This park is affectionately called the airplane playground by my two older girls, and it was a favorite of ours before Covid. On a whim, a few weeks ago, after spending the day hiking at Patapsco, I decided to stop here briefly. The park is on our way home, and Pebble had never been before. She was absolutely enthralled with watching the giant craft coming in for a landing, gliding right across the field in front of us low to the ground.

Those airplanes are the main draw of this park, the reason to search this gem out. There is a small playground that was renovated a few years back, and it is great if you have kiddos who love to climb! For bikers and walkers, there is access to the BWI and B&A trail. The parking lot is a decent size, and there is a portable potty. If you are using GPS to find the place, the addy is 1911 Dorsey Rd, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

A few days after our initial visit, Pebble begged to go to the airplane place again. It was an extremely hot and humid day, but we decided to give it a whirl. Just as a FYI, as we discovered, the playground is not shaded, and all of the equipment is in the sun. That meant this was a short visit as the girls heated up quickly, as did the equipment.

This side of the wall was still shaded and nowhere near as hot as the other side!
Pebble climbed everything! I was glad my hubby was there to help her with some of the higher climbs!
Plane incoming!

I think we spent all of an hour here before heading for the car and AC. Stormy was the first to complain about the heat. She said her hands was so sweaty she couldn’t do her beloved monkey bars. Rainbow didn’t complain, she just turned beet red, as did Pebble. I would say that, in that hour, we saw a half dozen planes land, including a massive jumbo jet. Pebble loved the fact that from the upper level of equipment, she could see the landing strip on the other side of Dorsey Road, as well as a glimpse of the distant terminal. She is not a fan of loud noises, but she didn’t have an issue with the jets. We had a great time, and plan to go back when the weather cools a bit. If your kiddo is a fan of planes, check this place out! Happy trails!
