Okay, that is probably the weirdest title I have ever written, but due to rising Covid numbers, we decided not to travel for Christmas. What does that have to do with my crazy title? Well, in lieu of travel, we tried to do a variety of family activities each weekend instead.

Early in December, we set out on a warm Saturday evening to do the Crofton Christmas Scavenger Hunt.

Stormy and Rainbow were excited about the hunt. Pebble was too young to care, though. She was happy as a clam to just walk down Urby and take in the lights! It was amazing! So many lights and inflatables! She loved the 2 story high Rudolph and Clarice as well as an inflatable of Santa in a fire truck. Rainbow’s favorite decoration was a giant inflatable penguin wearing a Santa hat.

The scavenger hunt was easy to do… Rainbow knew exactly where to find the candy cane trees and you can’t miss Clarice and Rudolph! We weren’t the only ones out admiring the lights. There were quite a few other families out admiring the lights, so we did wear masks.

After we finished our hunt on Urby and nearby Good Hope, we drove around the Crofton Parkway to find the other two locations. The girls had a blast, and we hope Crofton Christmas does this again next year!

Leaving the Christmas lights of Crofton behind, we headed north to Severn to check out a drive through Nativity scene.

While the living Nativity was neat and had audio to accompany us through each station, the wait to get in was long! We waited over 30 minutes to enter, and it only took ten minutes to go through all of the scenes. The highlights for all three girls were the angels whose wings were covered in rainbow lights, and the camel. LOL!

Because a night out wasn’t enough, we woke up on Sunday and headed for the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. I had heard of a drive through event called Jurassic Wonder. We bought our ticket, $10, in advance for the 11am to 12pm time slot.

It was another short drive through, but we had fun! Pebble and Rainbow both love dinosaurs right now. Rainbow’s favorite is a T-Rex. The first few dinosaurs didn’t move, but the last few did. Stormy was fascinated with the eyes. She kept asking how the eyes moved and blinked.

All 3 asked to drive through again when we were done! Definitely a sign of success! Would we do it again if it comes back? Not sure! I just know we had a great weekend with a string of family adventures, something we all needed! Happy trails!
