Over the course of January, I made not one, but two trips to the Pip Moyer Recreation Center in Annapolis. The Center is located within Truxtun Park at 273 Hilltop Lane. When you pull into the lot for the Center, drive to the very back. There, next to the basketball courts, is a small playground tucked up next to the woods. Don’t let its size fool you, there is a lot to do! Pebble and I only got 45 minutes of playtime in before the rain started, which is part of the reason we ended up here again later in the month. Plus, our second visit was the same weekend as Stormy’s birthday, and Stormy had picked that playground as a fun birthday excursion. Her bestie and her bestie’s family were also joining us as they hadn’t yet been to this playground.

All five kids had a great time clambering up and down the equipment, hanging upside down from the monkey bars, and getting pushed on the big saucer swing. Stormy, especially, was in heaven with all the things to climb and the monkey bars. We’d only been at the park for 40 minutes or so when one of the kiddos asked us where a nearby trail led to. I told them that the trail led over to another area of Truxtun Park where there was a playground and a swimming pool, and that set the kids off!

They just had to explore, so we took the stairs down the hill across a stream, and back up a hill next to the tennis and pickleball courts. Then we turned left toward the playground. This playground is your standard playground with a playset for younger kids and one for older kiddos. There are also a see-saw, swings, monkey bars, and this one circular piece of equipment that spins. All 5 kids easily fit on it, and were thrilled when one of the adults started spinning them in circles. They spun themselves dizzy, and had a blast! As a heads up, watch your kiddos on one of the slides on the older kids’ playset. There is a hole in the slide that could easily rip pants if not avoided…

Hole in the slide!

Eventually, we wandered back to the first playground, played for a bit longer, and then headed home. It was the perfect outing on a busy Saturday, and it let everyone get some wiggles out. As always, the playground nearest the Pip Moyer Center remains a favorite, but everyone loved being able to walk the park a little bit, too. Happy trails!
