The tradition continued this year with the 3rd annual Crofton Christmas Scavenger Hunt! Our favorite place to see holiday lights is Urby Drive in Crofton, and the homeowners on Urby started this scavenger hunt back during the pandemic. It has gotten bigger and better each year! This year, we chose a brisk Sunday evening to join in the fun. We bundled up and headed over to Urby to pick up our map. Paper maps are available between 5:30 and 7:30 near the giant Rudolph and Clarice inflatables. You can’t miss those inflatables, they tower above the street!

The scavenger hunt was different this year as there were no trinkets for us to find, and the locations had been changed up. There were 8 locations sprinkled around the Crofton Parkway, and the rules of hunt stated that one must take a picture at a minimum of five locations. The types of photos that one takes vary at each location. For example, on Urby Drive, the kids had to find the Elf and the Leg Lamp in a 2nd story window, and take a picture of themselves pointing at it. We also had to find the cold reindeer inflatable, and take a pic of the kids shivering along with him. It was silly and fun things to do… All three girls loved waddling like penguins on Ullswater Place, and jumping for joy in front of the joy sign on Tarrytown Ave.

Waddle like a penguin! This home was giving away candy canes, too!

We visited all 8 locations, but Pebble didn’t get out of the car for the last one as she was done! We had to be careful, too, as some of the homes had walkways lit by candles for Light Up Crofton 2022, a community event. As always, we had a lot of fun! The girls all ended up on a sugar high because candy canes were available at a few locations, too. When we got home, I followed the directions to post our photos, and put us into the raffle. There were a lot of people participating so we didn’t win anything, but our friends who did the scavenger hunt with us got first prize! It is a fun adventure to do each year, and the girls can’t wait to see what the homeowners of Urby have planned for next year! Happy trails!
