On a blustery day in early November, Pebble and I checked out Severn Danza Park. The addy for the park is 726 Donaldson Ave in Severn. Once we pulled in, we went left at a fork, and parked near ball fields. To our left was a BMX track, and to our right were ball fields. We could also see a playground nestled among the trees. There were bathrooms, but, at this time of the year, we didn’t investigate to see if they were open. I had the portable potty in my backpack. The park was almost empty of people, just a few out walking the paths.
I had brought Pebble’s beloved balance bike, and decided to check out the BMX track. I thought she’d love trying out the track, but I was wrong. I had her try the gentler dips and hills on the track, but it wasn’t her jam. I think she needs to get better at stopping, and then this might appeal more. Pebble much preferred riding the paved paths through the park. If you have kids that like speed, hills, and are good on their bikes, this track will def be a hit!
Leaving the BMX track behind, we set off on the paved paths past ball fields until we came to a brightly colored playground.
Pebble had a blast exploring and climbing. There was even a double swing for her and I to share. Pebble loves these types of swings because I have to do all the work! Once she had had her fill of this playground, we set off to find the second playground. We had played on the main playground for the park, but there was an older, smaller one closer to the main road tucked among pine trees near more ball fields.
While this second playground wasn’t bright or new, we still had a blast playing! Who doesn’t love a good tunnel slide? Plus, with this playground sheltered by pine trees, the wind was greatly reduced. We only encountered one design flaw here…. Who would build a step so far from the structure? Pebble couldn’t step up like she wanted and I had to swing her up instead. Maybe older kids could jump it, but it was too big a gap for the littler set!
All in all, we had a wonderful morning out in the fresh air! It is a fun park to keep in mind if you have kids that love riding their bikes up, down and around a dirt track. I can see that being a big draw for some families. Pebble and I will have to come back with her older sisters when the weather warms up, and see what they think of the BMX track. I think they, like Pebble, will prefer the playground and the monkey bars, but you never know. Happy trails!
