It was a beautiful Friday morning! My husband and I had dropped Stormy and Rainbow off at school, and then drove down to Central Avenue in Davidsonville with Pebble to run an errand. I realized that Riva Area Park wasn’t far from where we were going, and we decided to check it out. The address of the park is 3639 Riva Road, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Once you turn into the park, continue straight until the road ends at a small traffic circle. You will see the playground on your left, as well as portable toilets. There is plenty of parking, and the playground appears to have been updated recently.
Racing is the theme of this playground, and the color scheme is a mixture of bright reds, yellows, and blues. Very cheerful! Pebble happily ran around checking everything out. The playground isn’t large, just one structure, with one end geared toward the younger set and the opposite end meant for older kiddos. There are 4 swings available, and the surface of the playground is mulch. Pebble loved using mulch as pretend food and pretend money in the pretend storefront that was part of the structure.
We spent about an hour at this playground before heading out to continue our errands. Pebble thoroughly enjoyed herself, but her interest was waning by the time we left. This isn’t a playground you’d go out of your way to explore. It is new, yes, but fairly basic, although it does have monkey bars and a climbing wall, which is more than I can say about the new Crofton Park! Overall, I’d say that this is the perfect playground for those looking to get the kids outside for a short bit to burn energy. It is also a great place for kids to play when their older siblings are playing on the ball fields here. Happy trails!
