The floodgates have opened! Last week, we visited two playgrounds, and this week the littles were clamoring for another! And yes, I just realized I forgot to blog about our second park last week, oops! Stay tuned for a post about that one, which was amazing, but this park today took things to a new level! Oh my goodness, this park is beyond awesome! It isn’t one of PG County’s Imagination Playgrounds, and there isn’t a website for it. I’m not even sure how I found out about it, but I’m glad I did! This park is well hidden, and there are no signs even indicating a playground is there.

We turned onto Racetrack Road in Bowie near the Aldi and Walgreens shopping plaza, and followed the road for a few miles. Once we crossed Horsepen Branch on the bridge with horse heads adorning it, we started looking for the lot. I believe it was the second right after the bridge. There is one sign at the entrance.

The lone sign, blink and you will miss it!

We pulled into the lot, and wondered if we were in the right spot. You can’t even see the playground from the lot. I took the bikes out of the trunk, and got helmets on Pebble and Rainbow. Then we set off down the WB&A trail / road.

At the end of the road, we made a left to veer around a giant building used by WSSC. The building is entirely fenced in, and there is a fence bordering the WB&A trail for quite a ways. Just past the building, we found a break in the fence that led us into a hidden gem!

Younger kiddos section…

The kids biked to the pavilion, parked, and started exploring. Rainbow ran right for the zip line, and took off laughing with sheer joy! It looked like so much fun, I tried it too! I have never seen a zip line at any playgrounds we’ve visited in MD, so this was amazing! I didn’t realize till later that I didn’t have any good photos of it to share with you. The giant circles you see in the upper photo turn in circles, with one side being higher than the other. We all had a blast spinning on it and other spinning equipment. There was this super cool tower that you climb up, step off onto a platform that then sinks down slowly. Even Pebble had to try it, although it took me and her auntie assisting her because her legs were too short.

My girls had a blast running amuck with their friends! We were the only ones there most of the time, so we didn’t wear masks. The younger kids section was super cute, too. There was a train, swings, motorcycles on springs, and a plastic egg type chair that turned in circles. Pebble loved rocking out on the motorcycles and climbing through the train tunnel!

The thing that took this park to the next level was the bike track. Each obstacle was labeled beginner or intermediate, and Pebble had a blast riding her balance bike around the circle! When it came time to leave, she kept begging to do one more, just one more!

For those that like to skateboard, there is a skateboarding section, which we didn’t check out. And, due to the location of the park directly next to a rail trail, there is also an area for bike repair as well as a bike pump!

We could have spent hours upon hours here! Rainbow and Pebble have already begged to go back next week, and this time we will bring a picnic lunch. Mosquito spray will be added to our diaper bag, too. There were quite a few of those annoying little suckers flying around today! FYI, there are no facilities at all, not even portable potties. I brought our travel potty, and it came in handy. Happy trails!
