Ok, I am taking a break from catching up on my September adventures to make sure I blog about some awesome Halloween and fall related activities before the month ends!First up… Historic Linthicum Walks. Who knew there was a historic site in Crofton right next door to the middle school?! We discovered this gem, and their amazing scavenger hunts, last year. We have done every scavenger hunt they have had, and my girls keep asking if there are new ones.

Historic Linthicum Walks is just off Davidsonville Road / 424, next door to the middle school. There is a narrow driveway that leads back to the house, and the parking lot is on the left. FYI, there are no facilities, and the lot is actually a grassy meadow. You could possibly push a Bob stroller around the grounds, but it wouldn’t be easy, there are no paved paths. Just food for thought! After parking, the kids made a beeline for the house to get a copy of the scavenger hunt. Between our two families, since friends had joined us on this adventure, we had 6 kiddos running amuck!

Stormy heading for the scavenger treasure box…
Her sisters and bestie were right behind her!

The decorations on the porch were super cute, and I love how the staff here present their scavenger hunts. Each piece of paper is rolled into a tube, tied with ribbons, and placed in a big box with plenty of pencils. With list and paper in hand, we turned the kids loose to roam the grounds. First find was a hanging spider, and then a jack’o’lantern.

It was so much fun watching the kids find items on the list! One would spot something, and all would stampede over to see what had been found.

Heading for the graveyard!
FYI, watch your footing! The black walnut trees had blanketed the ground in tennis ball sized nuts! Footing was a bit dicey in spots!

We had thought it would take the kids an hour to find everything, but with that many eyes, it only took about 20 minutes! The items on the list that were a bit trickier were the second hanging spider, a mobile of witches’ heads, and a pumpkin planter. These were eventually found with some helpful tips from the adults in the group who had already spotted the missing items.

The mobile of witches! This one is a toughie!
They found everything!!

After every item had been located the kids returned to the house to look in the windows. The staff always decorate the dining room to match the holiday, and there are some neat items to see.

Rainbow checking out the seasonal decorations.

After admiring the home’s decor, the kids practiced jumping off the front porch for a few, before we loaded up to head home. I can’t recommend this place enough! If you get a chance, def check it out! Happy trails!
