I’m very late on writing this post! We checked out this park on Labor Day, better late than never, right? Before I get started, let me preface this adventure with a bit of advice…. Never ever check out a new park on a holiday! This place was a zoo!

Blandair Regional Park is a fairly new park located on Oakland Mills Road in Columbia. It is divided into 3 sections, East, West, and North. On this visit, we started out in the North Area, the newest area of the park. The parking lot is huge, and there is a convenient bathroom set next to the playground. The playground itself is fenced in, which is a bonus for families with runners, and divided into multiple areas. My hubby and my mom set off to run the trails, while my dad and I attempted to wrangle 3 excited children. No sooner had we entered the gate, than all 3 went 3 different directions.

Kids were running everywhere, and my dad tried to keep an eye on our older two, while I tried to keep Pebble in sight. The playground is beyond amazing! It is also massive, and there are so many fun and different areas for kids to explore.

5-12 area, Stormy was in climbing / monkey bars heaven!
Rainbow loved this tower!
The 2-5 year old area, Dino themed…
Pebble in the youngest section of the playground, 5-24 months. She loved the interactive music boards in this area.

What made this playground super jam packed, aside from the fact that it was a holiday, was that two areas of the 6 were closed…. Pebble was very disappointed that the swings were roped off. She was looking forward to them…

Another 5-12 area…
Swings!

In the hour we were here, I lost Pebble twice, and that scared me very badly. It is a great playground, but if you have kids of different ages, def bring extra help. The playground is so big, you can’t keep any kids in sight for long. I would love to come back here, but not on a holiday, bad move on my part, or super nice day. As soon as hubby and my mom returned from their run, we packed the kids up, and headed to the East Area.

In the East Area is a challenge course. Stormy is fascinated by American Ninja Warrior, and she loved being able to try out an actual obstacle course. This course was super cool! Kids can hit a timer, and see their progress on a large clock. When they get to the end, they hit another button to see their final time.

There was a line of kids waiting to do the timed run, and Stormy and Rainbow joined them. Pebble was happy to try out individual obstacles, while I kept an eye out for kids making the timed runs.

Pebble loved trying to jump from bump to bump!
Some kids climbed the ropes here, others slithered up, down, under or over…

Due to the long line, Stormy and Rainbow only got to try the timed course twice before we headed home for lunch. They managed all the obstacles, and loved every minute of the course! Rainbow proved to be even faster than Stormy, to our surprise.

Out of the two areas we visited on this day, the East Area and it’s challenge course were the big hit for Stormy and Rainbow. Pebble loved the playground, but was disappointed that there were no swings. If it were any other day, and we’d brought lunch, we might have checked out the playground in the West Area. Something to do on a future visit…. This is a park well worth checking out, and we will be back! Happy trails!
