Hi everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but we went off the grid for our family vacation. My folks rented a cabin in the Adirondack Park in upstate NY. The only way to get a cell signal is climb the mountain next to the cabin or drive for 20 minutes to reach the nearest town…

We had an awesome week away! The girls were in 7th heaven! They spent much of their time outside swimming in the lake, trying to catch butterflies, playing frisbee, roasting marshmallows, etc. They also experienced a lot of firsts, from their first time in a canoe to their first time fishing to their first time flying a kite and, of course, their first time hiking mountains.

Looking down King’s Flow to Humphrey Mtn, this was our view from the cabin!
First hike of the week was to Clear Pond.
Stormy and Rainbow loved rock hopping!
Gorgeous Clear Pond!
Pebble at Carroll’s Brook.
Papa found a salamander!
Big hike of the week!
Stormy and Rainbow hiked hard! Pebble rode on my back a bit, but also insisted on hiking a fair amount, too!
This was the first mountain the girls had been up with a fire tower on top. Cab was off limits due to issues with the roof, but we all climbed as high as we could to soak in the views!
Beautiful, right?
Photos can never capture the views from Goodnow, wonderful hike! All 3 girls were exhausted! It was 3.9 miles round trip and we celebrated their victory with ice cream!
Chasing butterflies!
First time fishing! They each caught a small fish and the expression in their faces when they reeled in their catch was priceless!
Another great hike!
View of Snowy Mtn from a lookout on Watch Hill. I can’t believe I hiked that with my folks years ago!
Indian Lake from Watch Hill! Girls loved the views, but the drop offs were steep! We kept Pebble in the carrier and the older two back from the edge!
Campfire and s’mores! My kiddos proved to not be fans of this treat, but give them a bag of m&ms and they go to town!
Pebble on the trail to Round Pond!
Old car from the logging era on the trail to Round Pond.
Beaver dam on our way into Puffer Pond!
One final shot of Humphrey Mtn from our canoe on King’s Flow.

Thanks for reading this post! The girls were sad to leave the cabin and their grandparents. We hope next time we make this mountain trek, we will be able to do more things that Covid didn’t allow this time. If you ever make your way up here, the Wild Center in Tupper Lake is the most awesome nature center we have ever been to! I highly recommend it and these mountains, just bring the bug spray! Happy trails!
